…oh yes what you said about dovima was right on ! yes this idea of posing , the sense of gesture , for me this brought to attention my appreciation for you ,

cause you can pose, what a pleasure ,

there is something to grace , what a pleasure it is to see it in the curl of your hand , the position of your feet , you have the gestures of a classical mannequin in a sense , you are graceful because you are serving the clothes , delighting in them , wonderful work keep it up ,

I’ve been debating the barn jackets available this fall but for me they felt like I was playing dress up. So chic on others, but inauthentic on me. I thought — maybe a light anorak? So right before I read this I purchased a Margaret Howell anorak. It’s like you wrote this newsletter for me — so much styling inspiration!

… as for the rising sense of the value of couture , there is too much to say now but yes when you understand the history of ready to wear you understand so much of the problem with the fashion industry ….ready to wear does not make sense because women / people do not come in stepped sizes … quality made to measure clothing should be available to all women / people …. When you first get into couture it’s easy to bug out on the intricate beauty , the master craftspeople , the staggering prices are both insane and make sense ….but ii feel todays people are getting wise to the basics of couture , which was to get nice clothes that fit your body …. yes with some style update but nothing bonkers ,, a radical change in hemline ;) one built a wardrobe , piece by piece , and one’s style was yes , in how one moved in it , how one put things together ,

The massive financial waste in fashion is because people don’t remember what it was like before ready to wear ….

But where are the dress makers !? Where is someone who can follow a pattern ! … with all due respect to couturiers , give me a decent seamstress who will make made to measure for me out of excellent fabrics of my choosing any day ,

lllove to hear you explore this aspect of fashion more …..

I absolutely love both of your comments! I really enjoy discussing fashion in a more analytical way, though sometimes I wonder, "Does anyone care what I think? HAHA!" I truly appreciate your thoughts. I agree that younger generations are increasingly drawn to the principles of couture because of what it represents—high-quality craftsmanship and exceptional fabrics. I also believe that’s why we see more houses design couture-like pieces, as a way to tap into this desire for a return to a time when the quality of make and materials truly mattered, and clothing wasn’t treated as a disposable commodity.

To elaborate, I always thought it makes "sense" to match, but it can sometimes get boring. What a great way to add dimension to an outfit with minimal effort.

I just bought a green full-length rain jacket and you’re giving such good inspiration! 💕 This juxtaposition is a challenge for me (I am a matchy gal), but I like the clash of styles. Your outfits are fabulous,
